Several health and safety issues concern our community. This includes all residents, their horses and our precious sensitive wildlife.
This narrow road with multiple blind turns is not equipped to handle the projected traffic volume. Daily vehice trips are project to increase from 744 to 1574! Accidents are likely to significantly increase.
The traffic congestion from 800+ additional daily vehicle trips poses a significant safety risk in the event of a wildfire. There is only one evacuation route available! Please see the Fuel Modification Plan images posted below. Instead of addressing our safety concerns, the developer made a revision to the Final EIR that makes the project even more unsafe by removing a fuel modification buffer at the northern edge.
The project includes no safety measures for pedestrians or horses to facilitate crossing Guajome Lake Road. This is an equestrian community with multiple horse crossing signs.
The additional hundreds of vehicle trips over a dirt road will result in a significant and unhealthy quantity of dust in the air. Please see video below. Imagine the impacts on nearby residents, their horses, our wildlife, as well all of the many visitors to Guajome Park! The dust in the air can also greatly impede visibility, especially during the morning hours which see, by far, the most traffic.
